HIJAB STORY

My journey of hijab was a delayed one because of not knowing its importance but because of internalized fears. During school days I used to plan to wear hijab and niqab. I used to wear my mom’s abaya when I was alone to see how I look and it made me happy but something inside me kept me away. It wasn’t any societal stimulus but just an inside fear. After school completed, I started wearing hijab. I wanted to do niqab too but my heart was just scared. Scared of what? I still don’t know. May be it was just shaitan putting waswasa or may be my own nafs trying to keep me away from Allah’s order. After MDCAT, I decided to just do it. I started niqab and suddenly I felt so safe. It gave me a sense of being protected. All those thoughts of being the odd one vanished. Before wearing niqab, the stares used to creep me out but now they’ve lessened a lot and if this happens now, I still feel safer than before. To the girls who are struggling with their own thoughts about hijab, how will I look? You will look like a princess of Islam. What will people say? People have their own issues to care about and even if they say something, it will be a lot less than you think. Will I lose friends? No , not a single true friend is gonna leave you just because of this. Look dear, these are all just fears inside your head. Just do it and all these will be gone in sha Allah. Don’t listen to anyone who criticizes your hijab or niqab style or those who say if your hair is showing, what’s the point of wearing hijab, just take it off. We all start at a certain point. We all pass through different stages. It took me many years to finally reach at the point I’m now and I know I still have a long way to go. So whether you’re at the dupata stage or a proper hijab or niqab stage, wear it proudly as it is your crown and a way to show that you are a proud respectful Muslimah..!!!
